Status Updates Ads?

Ads are all over the Internet. Recently, status updates/ micro-blogging have become popular, some people even use status updates to express themselves in an artistic way. Status Update advertising basically means to pay certain profile owners and get them to talk about a brand/ product/ service. After PayPerPost and other networks for blog post advertising, I knew status updates would be the next new thing. Status Plug is one of Read More...

On my way to Hong Kong

I am on my way to Hong Kong from Vancouver BC. Currently 32000 feet high, on 551 mph ground speed, with -54.4 F outside air temperature, and 12 hours to go till it arrives. I just took newspapers from the flight attendant, which reminded me of the latest prediction that says that all/ most traditional newspapers will be substituted by online news websites/ blogs in 2012. I am quite sure Read More...

Audi, BMW Billboard War

From the popular Apple advertising campaigns “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC“, Microsoft responded with Bill Gates I’m a PC, and “Laptop Hunters” campaigns. More recently, when Audi announced “Your move, BMW.” on a Billboard on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, local BMW dealership actually responded by having a billboard just across the street with “Checkmate”. One, nothing! I’m looking foward to seeing Audi making another “Move”.

Online and Offline socializing

Thousands of people jump into the game of social networking everyday. More than 90% of Internet users own at least one profile page from social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, linkedIn, myspace and I can continue naming all the sites for the next hour. People spend more time on the Internet which somehow leads to the growth of online shopping, therefore, it makes perfect sense for people to figure out Read More...

Marketers, do you watch “Kitchen Nightmares”?

Gordin Ramsey is not only a British celebrity chef, but also a smart marketer. I watched a few episodes of the Kitchen Nightmares and it reminded me of the basic marketing concepts that I had almost forgotten. Kitchen Nightmares is a TV programme where Gordin goes around the world and improves failing restuarant businesses. I personally find it very interesting because cooking and marketing are my interests and this show Read More...

“Indirect” Direct Marketing

When I first learnt about direct marketing, it was all about envelopes and mailboxes. Then email marketing came out. What’s now? I’m sure many of us are aware of the push and pull concept in marketing these days. Direct marketing doesn’t have to be “direct” anymore. The whole point of DM is to customize the ideas/ messages and send them to the segmented targets directly, with a call-to-action most of Read More...

Twitter ID on Individual Business Card

I’m sure all of us know how powerful individual business cards are. The moment you give out one, it means that you’ve gained a potential business connection. People who are looking for intelligence do not only look at education and experience anymore. As there are more competitors in the field who have similar qualification, how can you stand out? You show them your personality before they get to know you! Read More...

Good vs Bad

I did a presentation with my team on a Charity Fashion Show event for Professor Derek Vigar’s PM class last Friday. Instead of using Powerpoint like other presenters, I decided to use Flash and sound to draw a distinction from other teams. It turned out pretty well and we received a number of positive feedbacks from Derek and other audience. After our presentation, all the other teams had to present, Read More...

Facebook is BIG!

Facebook is releasing a Virtual Currency system soon called “Facebook Credit”. Facebook users will then be able to reward friends for their great content on Facebook. Which means in the close future, if I post a funny status update, or a very sexy picture of me, I might get rewarded from my friends. These credits will be purchased from the Facebook gift store at a rate of US$1 for 100 Read More...
