Why Twitter is like your high school life

There are 4 basic reasons for me to meet people in school;

  1. Appearance (Twitter profile)
  2. School “reputation”
  3. Mutual friends
  4. When I heard something during short break that interest me, I would start talking to this person randomly (@replies), if the conversation went well, we would become friends (follow each other).

Cool Kids

There are also cool kids in school, they are the popular ones. People would gossip about them and keep trying to know more about them, but some cool kids don’t “follow back”.

Changing interest and lifestyle

After graduating from high school, my friends and I went to different colleges and universities, I kept in touch with some of them, but some would change because of their new friends and environment, and they would start talking about something that didn’t interest me anymore, then I might have to “unfollow” them.

True friends?

After university, my high school friend would be very influential to me. We even tried to work on something together and used each other’s connections to help our own goals in careers. Unfortunately, some of my friends got into insurance company and they kept selling me insurance plan (make money online affiliates), then again, I might “unfollow” them.
